Register your child today for our hands-on, engaging Babysitter’s Training course, designed for responsible youth ages 11 to 15 who are ready to build real-world caregiving skills and emergency readiness. This nationally recognized program helps young babysitters gain the knowledge, confidence, and certification needed to safely care for infants and children in a wide range of everyday and emergency situations.
Babysitting is often a young person’s first job, and preparation matters. According to national injury prevention data, unintentional injuries are a leading cause of emergency room visits for children, many of which occur in the home. Proper supervision, quick decision-making, and basic first aid skills can significantly reduce the risk of serious injury. Babysitters who are trained to recognize hazards, respond to emergencies, and follow safety guidelines are better prepared to protect children when parents are away.
This course focuses on practical, age-appropriate skills that help students feel confident taking responsibility for younger children. Through interactive lessons, real-life scenarios, and hands-on practice, students learn how to stay calm, make safe choices, and respond effectively in situations that babysitters commonly face.
What’s Included
Students receive an American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training Certificate of Completion, valid for 10 years, providing long-term proof of training that parents and families trust.
Optional Pediatric First Aid, CPR, and AED certification is available and valid for two years. These lifesaving skills are especially important, as immediate first aid and CPR can greatly improve outcomes during medical emergencies involving children.
Classes are taught in person by experienced instructors and include interactive discussions, video demonstrations, and hands-on skill practice to reinforce learning and build confidence.
Students also receive access to the free American Red Cross Child Care App, which includes safety tips, emergency checklists, and tools that can be used while babysitting.
